Gulf Islands
DEPARTS: Vancouver
DAY 1: Salt Spring Island
DAY 2: Poet’s Cove / South Pender
Our Gulf Island package is to let you enjoy the wonders of the Gulf Island and combines some spectacular scenery from the water with the comfort of world lass resorts and Spa, wildlife, artisan shops and art galleries, wineries and great food.
Day 1:
As we leave from Vancouver, we will be heading West across the Straight of Georgia. It is not uncommon during this 90 minutes crossing to see some whales. Our journey will take us to Porlier Pass on Gabriola Island, into the tranquility of Trincomali Channel. We will then make our way South towards Montaigu Harbour on Galiano Island. As the first marine park established in British Columbia, Montaigu Harbour is always a delight to visit.
From there, it is a short 45 minutes boat ride to Ganges on Salt Spring Island. Although Ganges is an urban centre, it really has the look and feel of a Seaside village. It is full of art galleries, restaurants, book stores. It is also home of the Saltsprings Island Gelato, for the chocolate and ice cream lovers! There are plenty more things to visit on the island, the Lavender Farm, the goat cheese producers and wineries and much more.
Overnight stay is at the Harbour House hotel or the Wisteria B&B. The Harbour House faces Ganges Harbour and features spectacular sunsets. They usually have live music in the evening and the restaurant is top quality Pacific Northwest cuisine with an emphasis on the “100 yards diet”. Most of the food comes from the adjacent farm owned and run by the hotel. The Wisteria is a charming B&B with comfortable and nicely appointed bedrooms and cabins along with truly exceptional breakfast.
Day 2:
On Saturdays, the market in Ganges is worth exploring. It is one of the best in the Pacific Northwest. Our journey on day 2 takes us to Saturna Island, a lovely and quite secluded island famous for his lamb BBQ. The winery on Saturna has its own private dock that allows us to go enjoy a wonderful lunch with a stunning view and some great wine testing!
From there, we head towards Pender Island and the fantastic Poets Cove Resort and Spa. This is truly a spectacular, world class resort with any activity you can dream off available to you. Just let us know what you would like to do once on Pender, your Impressions crew and the staff at Poets Cove will make it happen for you. Pender Island is a fascinating place to visit. It is in fact made of 2 Islands North and South Pender connected by a canal, very scenic and interesting to navigate with the boat. The island has lots of artists and art galleries, along with a great golf course, museum, disc golf, bird sanctuary, spectacular beaches and vistas …
Day 3:
Travel back to Vancouver. After a great breakfast at the resort, followed by a spa treatment or another dip in the pool, we will be heading back to the city. This time, we will transit through the fascinating area known as Active Pass on our way back towards the Straight of Georgia.
